The West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner and 20 local businesses sponsored Shrewsbury and Oswestry Crucial Crew in 2025, but we would like to see more. Sponsoring the safety of young children through professional safety education events such as Crucial Crew is no accident and rewarding for all concerned. The dates and times for our planning meetings in 2026 are: 

Tuesday 10 February 2026 10am (management only); 
Tuesday 10 March 2026: 10am (management);    11.15 to 12noon (agencies)
Tuesday 14 April 2026:    10am (management);    11.15 to 12noon (agencies)
Tuesday 12 May 2026:     10am (management);    11.15 to 12noon (agencies)

(Meetings are to be held at The Two Henry’s, Battlefield, Shrewsbury, SY4 3EQ)

Pre event set up times:
Saturday 30 May 2026: 9am – 1pm (Sat before event –  setting up)
Monday 1 June 2026: 0830 early set up – event starts at 10am

On 14 Nov 24 Shrewsbury & Oswestry Crucial Crew celebrated its 30th anniversary with the news that we had been awarded the MBE for Volunteer groups, the Kings Award for Voluntary Service. We have to extend a huge thank you to over 110 unpaid volunteers, our sponsors, the professional partners who deliver important safety information and the 50 primary schools who enthusiastically support this well established event. Lord Lt Anna Turner, Jenny Wynne DL, Nicky Kershaw DL & Tony Morris-Eyton DL attended Crucial Crew on Mon 2 Jun 25 to present the award on behalf of his majesty, King Charles III.
